ISO 12233 Resolution Test Chart
A reference resolution test chart compliant with ISO 12233 — a full chart family (0.5x–8x, standard, enhanced, cine, matte and glossy variants) for objectively assessing horizontal and vertical camera and lens resolution.
- Compliant with ISO 12233 "Photography – Electronic still picture imaging – Resolution measurements"
- Manufacturing precision — only 0.1 mm error when measuring a 20 cm height on the 1x version
- Full size family from 0.5x to 8x, plus 0.75x–4x digital-cine variants
- Surface options — semimatt, matte, high-glossy and glossy — for reflective and transmissive setups
The ISO 12233 Resolution Test Chart is a standard reference chart used to aid measurement of the vertical and horizontal resolution of real-world camera shots. Testing is carried out at a fixed shooting angle and under fixed conditions, and the resolution calculation — vertical and horizontal — is performed with HYRes software. 3nh offers a one-stop solution covering the chart itself, a dedicated light source and calculation software.
Assessing a digital camera differs from assessing other products — it cannot be reduced to objective data read from software alone, as with laptops or DIY electronics. It requires combining objective measurement data with hands-on evaluation of the resulting images by experienced reviewers. The chart complies with ISO 12233, “Photography — Electronic Photographic Image — Measurement,” and on the 1x version the error in measuring a 20 cm height is only 0.1 mm, giving it nearly all the characteristics found across most resolution charts.

Applications
The chart is used to calibrate and test cameras, lenses and vision systems — objectively assessing vertical and horizontal resolution in lab and production settings, in both reflective (reflective light box) and transmissive (transmissive light box) configurations.
