MatchColor Color Matching System
A complete six-module computer colour-matching system for colour laboratories — recipe formulation, batch correction and full colour quality control for daily colourist work.
- Six modules — colour quality control, approach search, colorant characterisation, formulation by combination, manual/automatic formulation, correction
- Calculates thousands of formulas and ranks the best by ΔE, price or metamerism
- Corrects recipes by reformulation or by adding the minimum quantity of colorant needed
- Supports 3nh spectrophotometers plus leading Japanese-brand and Datacolor spectrophotometers
MatchColor is a complete computer colour-matching system from 3nh, built from six interoperating modules. Given its depth of functionality, it is aimed mainly at large plants running an in-house colour laboratory where colourists use it throughout the day — covering the full workflow from quality control through colorant characterisation to recipe formulation and correction.
The system spans the entire colour workflow: quality control with indices such as whiteness, yellowness and colour strength; approach search to classify all colours in a file (spectral or formula) against a standard; colorant characterisation, building a database from spectral letdown files and measurements to derive K (absorption) and S (scattering) curves versus concentration; formulation by combination, which computes thousands of formulas from a colorant file and ranks the best by ΔE, price or metamerism; manual or automatic formulation for research-lab simulations; and recipe correction — either by full reformulation or by adding the minimum quantity of colorant needed, which is also useful for recycling off-spec batches.
Features
- Colour quality control — WI, YI, opacity and colour-strength indices with comparison graphics
- Approach search — classifies all colours in a file (spectral or formula) against a standard
- Colorant characterisation — builds a colorant file from spectral letdowns and measurements, deriving K (absorption) and S (scattering) fitting curves versus concentration
- Formulation by combination — computes thousands of formulas from a colorant file and displays the best by ΔE, price or metamerism
- Manual/automatic formulation — manually selected colorants with automatic calculation by curve fitting or colour coordinate, useful for research-lab simulation
- Recipe correction — correction by reformulation or by adding the minimum colorant quantity needed, including recycling of off-spec batches
- Instrument compatibility — 3nh, leading Japanese-brand and Datacolor spectrophotometers
Applications
MatchColor is used in colour laboratories at manufacturing plants working with paints, plastics, textiles and other coloured materials — anywhere a colourist formulates, corrects and quality-controls colour recipes on a daily basis.
